Road to November looks good for Toomey
25 Feb
Here’s some great news for those of who can’t wait to see RINO-turned-Democrat Arlen Specter defeated in November.
Franklin & Marshall’s February poll (PDF here) of 1143 Pennsylvania adults found Specter to be trailing GOP candidate Pat Toomey by 10 points among likely voters.
And it gets better:
- Toomey has a greater than 2:1 advantage over Independent voters (likely voters);
- Specter’s favorable to unfavorable ratio amongst all voters is 32% to 45%; and
- Just 3 in 10 registered say Specter is doing a “good” or “excellent” job.
One statistic stands out as the most damaging of all to Specter’s reelection hopes: only 25% of all voters say he deserves to be reelected, while 63% say it’s time for a change.
Nearly two-thirds!
You simply cannot win with unfavorables like that coupled with a “time for change” sentiment of 63%. Assuming Specter beats his primary opponent Sestak (not at all a shoo-in), there could be a new Republican Senator from PA this fall. Fingers crossed!
This will be a race to watch. To read more on the poll, USA today and Politico had some short pieces about it.

Lanny,
Good to see you are doing the good work north of the border. I am Pat’s campaign manager down here and we appreciate the plug.
