Some recent scribblings

27 Jul

It’s been a long while since I’ve fired up the Wordpress here at LannyCardow.com.

A few items I wanted to share in the middle of this busy summer:

  • A piece included in a series assembled by TheMarkNews.com on Canadian political comebacks. As Iggy forges ahead on his summer BBQ tour I thought it was timely to highlight the long tenure of Robert Borden as opposition leader.
  • As part of a Mark News piece for MSN.ca about Great Canadians, I wrote a brief section on why Stephen Harper deserves to be named among them. It’s about halfway down the page.
  • You can also check out a brief piece written in collaboration with two of my colleagues in Campaigns and Elections Magazine Canada. We list some things that David Cameron could learn from Stephen Harper. C&E is a digital-only publication in this country, and we’re on pages 33-35 of the June 2010 edition.

    PM on YouTube this morning

    11 Mar

I’m going to check out the PM’s YouTube throne speech response online today at youtube.com/TalkCanada.

It starts at “approximately” 10:45am Eastern time.

Great that the PM and government are embracing this media – curious to see how the questions and the moderating will work during the evening Q&A.

Congratulations to our New PCPO Executive

    7 Mar

As you can tell from my Twitter stream, I’ve been at the Ontario PC’s annual general meeting this weekend at the Ottawa Westin hotel. The organizers did a great job at putting on a big show, with lovely visuals and stunning AV setup.

I’m so happy to see my dear friend Hartley Lefton be acclaimed to the role of 4th VP. I made a video of his thank you speech that you can view here or at his facebook page.

It was also great to see some other new faces such as my friend and former campaign colleague Andrew Boddington acclaimed to the role of 1st VP, and I’m quite sure that the wonderful Megan Boyle will do a great job in the role of 9th VP.

Oh, and it seems we have another new PC Party logo. Check it out:

Following the Canadian budget on Twitter

    1 Mar

I tweeted about this press release from the Dept. of Finance last week, congratulating them for planning to Tweet on budget day. I notice [Flaherty press secretary] Annette Robertson’s name is on the release — as her former colleague I can tell you that she is a gifted and innovative communicator, and I’m not at all surprised that Finance is using this new medium as a result.

This Thursday, be sure to follow @financecanada (but not @financecda, which is an impostor account) starting at around 4pm EST.
